At a conference in China this week, Xiaomi showed a 5G version of its latest flagship phone, the Mi Mix 3. In the demo, Xiaomi showed how you can surf the web and stream live videos via the 5G network. The Mi Mix 3, 5G version runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and an X50 5G modem at a maximum download speed of 2Gbps. The regular version runs on the Snapdragon 845, the processor found in many Android phones in 2018.
Since 2016, Xiaomi has been working on 5G technology and partnered with one of China’s biggest carriers, China Mobile, to explore more applications of emerging technology. The 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 may be available in Europe early in 2019, and more smartphones supporting the 5G network of China Mobile will be available later in the year.
