Next month Apple Music comes to Echo devices
Echo smart speakers from Amazon already support a wide range of music services, including Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio and TuneIn. Now Apple Music will join this little group on 17 December. Apple Music users can ask Alexa to play their favorite songs, artists and albums, as well as any of the selected playlists and radio stations of the streaming service. Echo owners simply need to enable the Apple Music skill in the Alexa app, link their account.
Making Apple Music available on Echo devices may seem opposite to Apple’s usual strategy but the company can apparently see the sense of making its streaming service available on the most popular home speaker platform out there. Amazon also seems happier to have Apple on Amazon’s platform. Earlier this month, the e – commerce giant entered into a new deal to sell iPhones, iPads and other Apple products on their website. ” Music is one of Alexa’s most popular features— since Alexa was launched four years ago, customers listen to more music in their homes than ever before, ” said Dave Limp, senior vice president of Amazon’s devices, in a blog post. ” We are committed to offering our customers great music providers and since we launched the Music Skill API last month to developers, we have expanded Alexa’s music selection to include even more top – class services. ”
